Bill of Sale
Copy of your passport or NZ driver’s licence
NZ Customs client code or application
HPI Gold Report (UK) to verify clear title

Caravan Import Process: Step by Step

Find Your Caravan – Buy directly online or with help from our UK procurement agents
Title Checks & VAT – We assist with due diligence, including HPI reports and VAT recovery (if eligible)
Overseas Pickup – Our agents collect the caravan and deliver it to the loading station
Shipping – We arrange container or RORO shipping from the UK to NZ
NZ Clearance & Inspections – We handle MPI border clearance and structural inspections
Final Delivery – Your caravan is delivered to a compliance centre or your home

Vehicle Standards & Compliance

All imported caravans must meet NZ compliance standards, including:

Electrical & gas certification
Self-containment for toilet and waste
MPI biosecurity clearance

Can You Load Extra Items into the Caravan?

Yes — if your caravan is shipped in a container, additional items and personal effects can be included (subject to declaration). However, Roll-On Roll-Off (RORO) services strictly prohibit supplementary cargo, and larger caravans using RORO must meet additional security criteria. Talk to us before buying to determine the best shipping method.

Cleaning & Border Biosecurity

Your caravan must be free of soil, plant matter, and debris prior to shipping. This avoids delays and extra costs from MPI-mandated re-cleaning in New Zealand. Our UK depots ensure compliance and can help prepare your vehicle to meet these standards.

Marine Cargo Insurance

To protect your investment, all caravans shipped through Extreme Global must be covered by comprehensive marine insurance. We offer competitive coverage and manage it as part of your logistics plan — giving you peace of mind in transit.

Local Customs & Clearance

Before your caravan is released, we process all required paperwork through:

NZ Customs – Including GST and duty assessments (if applicable)
MPI – For quarantine, inspection, and structural compliance

If you’re a returning NZ resident, you may qualify for GST exemptions on personal effects — ask us how.

Depot & Delivery

Caravans shipped in containers are unpacked at our MPI-compliant specialist depots, while RORO units are processed at port. Once all border checks and paperwork are complete (typically 3–4 working days), we arrange release and delivery to your chosen location.
